Giornata di nomination ai premi di categoria: a pochi giorni dalle nomination agli Oscar, infatti, il sindacato dei costumisti e quello dei direttori della fotografia di Hollywood anno annunciato i film che concorreranno rispettivamente alla 17esima edizione dei Costume Designers Guild Awards (che si terranno il 17 febbraio) e alla 29esima edizione degli Annual ASC Awards (che si terranno il 15 febbraio).

Entrambi i premi sono decisamente influenti sugli Oscar, anche se nel caso del premio dei costumisti la divisione in tre sezioni rende tutto più complicato (di solito la spuntano molto di più i film ambientati nel passato o fantasy).

  • Maleficent – Anna B. Sheppard, Jane Clive

  • Roger Deakins, ASC, BSC for Unbroken
  • Óscar Faura for The Imitation Game
  • Emmanuel Lubezki ASC, AMC for Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)
  • Dick Pope, BSC for Mr. Turner
  • Robert D. Yeoman, ASC for The Grand Budapest Hotel

Si tratta di nomination piuttosto prevedibili, ed è alquanto probabile che tutti e cinque i film finiscano agli Oscar in questa categoria. È la 13esima nomination per Roger Deakins, che ha vinto premi per Le Ali della Libertà, L’Uomo che non c’era e Skyfall. L’anno scorso il vincitore è stato Lubezki, per Gravity (ha vinto anche per L’Albero della Vita e I Figli degli Uomini).

Le nomination agli Oscar verranno annunciate il 15 gennaio 2015 alle 5.30 del mattino (ora del Pacifico). L’87esima edizione degli Academy Awards si terrà il 22 febbraio al Dolby Theatre dell’Hollywood & Highland Center e verrà trasmessa, negli USA, dalla ABC.
