È La La Land a guidare le nomination della 22esima edizione dei Critics’ Choice Awards, i premi assegnati dalla Broadcast Film Critics Association (la più grande organizzazioni di critici negli Stati Uniti e Canada, con più di 300 tra critici di televisione, radio, carta stampata e riviste online) e dalla Broadcast Television Journalists Association ai film e alle serie tv dell’anno.

Come vi ripetiamo sempre, negli ultimi giorni, in ottica Oscar i premi della critica hanno un unico ruolo, e cioè quello di aumentare il “buzz” di un film. Non possono essere un indicatore, essendo assegnati da persone che non fanno parte delle varie guild o dell’Academy, ma servono a farsi un’idea più precisa di come potrebbero andare le cose nei prossimi due mesi: l’anno scorso Spotlight ottenne il premio come miglior film, e vennero assegnati premi a film che vinsero poi Oscar come miglior attore, migliore attrice e migliore attrice non protagonista.

Vanno viste con questa prospettiva le ben 12 nomination di La La Land. Il musical prodotto da Lionsgate/Summit Entertainment è candidato come miglior film, miglior regista, miglior attore protagonista e migliore attrice protagonista, oltre che sceneggiatura, fotografia, scenografie, montaggio, costumi, colonna sonora e due canzoni.

Ottimi risultati anche per Arrival e Moonlight, che ricevono entrambi dieci nomination tra cui miglior film e miglior regista. Presenti tra i nominati a miglior film e miglior regista anche Manchester by the Sea di Kenneth Lonergan, Hacksaw Ridge di Mel Gibson, Hell or High Water di David Mackenzie e Fences di Denzel Washington (nominato anche come attore, la pellicola ottiene anche la nomination come migliore attrice non protagonista per Viola Davis e quella come miglior cast d’insieme).

Tra le delusioni da notare Jackie, che viene nominato solo per l’interpretazione di Natalie Portman (oltre a cinque premi tecnici). Sono poi assenti film come Silence di Martin Scorsese, Passengers e Rogue One: a Star Wars Story, che non sono stati ancora mostrati alla critica ma che avranno molto probabilmente un ruolo nella stagione dei premi (anche solo tecnici, nel caso degli ultimi due film).

La premiazione si terrà l’11 dicembre in una cerimonia che verrà trasmessa sul canale A&E negli USA:
