A vincere i premi più importanti, a sorpresa, sono stati The War: il Pianeta delle Scimmie (miglior montaggio del sonoro – dialogo e adr) e Blade Runner 2049 (miglior montaggio del sonoro – effetti e foley). Il favorito nella categoria del suono agli Oscar è Dunkirk, che peraltro ieri ha ottenuto il BAFTA. Ai Golden Reel Awards si è aggiudicato il premio per la colonna sonora.
Premiati anche The Greatest Showman (miglior suono in un musical), Coco (miglior suono in un film d’animazione), Loveless (miglior suono in un film straniero) e Jane (miglior suono in un documentario). Kathryn Bigelow ha ricevuto il Filmaker Award, mentre John P. Fasal (Dunkirk, Coco) il premio alla carriera.
