Oscar 2022: Dune, King Richard tra i vincitori degli ACE Eddie e ADG Awards

Si sono tenuti sabato sera gli ACE Eddie Awards e gli Art Directors Guild Awards, i premi del sindacato dei montatori e degli scenografi di Hollywood. Si tratta di premi di categoria molto importanti per quanto riguarda gli Oscar: spesso infatti riflettono i risultati della rispettiva categoria. Degli ultimi 30 vincitori degli ACE Eddie, infatti, ben 22 hanno vinto l’Oscar al miglior montaggio, mentre negli ultimi 25 anni ben 17 vincitori dell’ADG Award hanno vinto l’Oscar (di solito quello per le migliori scenografie in un film ambientato nel passato).

I VINCITORI DEGLI ACE EDDIE AWARDS

Una famiglia vincente – King Richard, nominato a sei Oscar incluso miglior film, ha conquistato il premio per il miglior montaggio in un film drammatico ed è ora frontrunner per l’Oscar al miglior montaggio (ma un anno fa Ford v. Ferrari Sound of Metal ha vinto l’Oscar dopo che Il processo ai Chicago 7 ha portato a casa l’Eddie). Sul fronte commedia/musical, il vincitore è Tick, Tick BOOM!, mentre come film d’animazione è stato premiato Encanto e come documentario Summer of Soul.

Inutile dire che durante la cerimonia è stata commentata con amarezza la decisione dell’Academy di assegnare l’Oscar al miglior montaggio in una premiazione che precederà la diretta ufficiale: la sequenza verrà girata e poi inserita in montaggio durante la cerimonia. “Accorceranno lo spettacolo quest’anno,” ha commentato DJ Lance Rock presentando i premi, “Una delle categorie che taglieranno sarà il montaggio. Ma chi farà questo taglio? L’unico montatore per il quale mi sento peggio è chi ha dovuto mettere insieme quel video di Imagine con Gal Gadot…!”

I VINCITORI DEGLI ART DIRECTORS GUILD AWARDS

La 26esima edizione degli Art Directors Guild Awards è stata condotta da Yvette Nicole Brown, durante la serata è stato consegnato il premio alla carriera a Ida Ransom, storica collaboratrice di Kevin Costner, e a Donna Cline, Anne Harris e Denise & Michael Okuda. Denis Villeneuve, poi, è stato insignito del William Cameron Menzies Award, e il suo collaboratore Patrice Vermette ha vinto l’ADG per le scenografie di Dune – un probabile vincitore dell’Oscar di quest’anno.
