Anche quest'anno le sorprese sono poche leggendo la scaletta delle nomination degli MTV Movie Awards, i premi cinematografici organizzati da MTV a giugno.

Quello che stupisce più di tutti è che, nonostante i più grandi successi della seconda metà del 2009 e della prima metà del 2010 siano tutti presenti, il film che ha ricevuto più nomination in assoluto sia The Hangover – Un Notte da Leoni. La commedia è effettivamente entrata nell'immaginario collettivo, e ha ricevuto il maggior numero di voti da parte dei fan.

Inevitabile la presenza di The Twilight saga: New Moon: Robert Pattinson da solo ha conquistato tre nomination (Miglior Performance Maschile, Superstar Globale e Miglior Bacio). Due nomination per la sua partner cinematografica Kristen Stewart, mentre Taylor Lautner ha ottenuto tre nomination nelle stesse categorie di Pattinson. 

Cinque nomination per Avatar: Miglior Film, Miglior Performance Femminile (Zoe Saldana), Miglior Villain (Stephen Lang), Miglior Star Tosta (Sam Worthington) e Miglior Bacio (Worthington + Saldana). C'è poi l'immancabile Harry Potter e il Principe Mezzosangue: il sesto episodio della saga ha ottenuto quattro nomination – Miglior Film, Miglior Attrice Femminile (Emma Watson), Miglior Performance Maschile (Daniel Radcliffe) e Miglior Villain (Tom Felton).

Sarà Aziz Ansari a presentare la cerimonia, che andrà in onda su MTV il 6 giugno. Sarà possibile votare su MovieAwards.MTV.com fino al 5 giugno, mentre la categoria Miglior Film sarà votabile fino alla fine della cerimonia. Alla serata parteciperanno anche Christina Aguilera, Tom Cruise e Cameron Diaz, Zac Efron, Jonah Hill, Jessica Biel, Steve Carell, Vanessa Hudgens e tanti altri.
