Il regista Johan Renck ha annunciato l’inizio delle riprese della serie Dune: The Sisterhood con un post su Instagram.

Il filmmaker ha accompagnato la notizia ricordando che gli eventi saranno ambientati migliaia di anni prima la storia che tutti conosciamno, aggiungendo:

Ci immergiamo nella congrega che un giorno sarà chiamata Bene Gesserit.

Nel cast dello show, prodotto per HBO Max, ci saranno Emily Watson, Shirley Henderson, Indira Varma, Travis Fimmel, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Faoileann Cunningham, Aoife Hinds, e Chloe Lea.

La serie è ambientata 10.000 anni prima di Dune (portato al cinema da Denis Villeneuve) e si basa sul romanzo Sisterhood of Dune di Brian Herbert e Kevin J. Anderson. La serie segue le Sorelle Harkonnen (Emily Watson, Shirley Henderson) mentre combattono forze che minacciano il futuro dell’umanità e fondano la leggendaria setta nota come Bene Gesserit.

Creata, scritta e prodotta da Diane Ademu-John, che funge anche da showrunner in collaborazione con Alison Schapker, la serie è prodotta anche da Denis Villeneuve, Jon Spaihts, Scott Z. Burns, Matthew King, Jon Cameron, Cait Collins e Brian Herbert. A dirigere i primi due episodi Johan Renck.
