Il filmmaker ha precisato in un post su twitter che nel suo film Scott Pilgrim ci sono attori che poi sono diventati supereroi o protagonisti di cinecomic: Superman (Brandon Routh), Captain America (Chris Evans), la Torcia Umana (Chris Evans), Punisher, Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Lego Robin (Michael Cera) e The Atom (Brandon Routh). E ha poi aggiunto, alla luce di questo: "Date ad Anna Kendrick un film su Squirrel Girl".
