Steve Golin morto a 64 anni, addio al fondatore di Anonymous Content e premio Oscar per Il Caso Spotlight

Steve Golin, produttore, fondatore e amministratore delegato della casa di produzione Anonymous Content e co-fondatore ed ex amministratore delegato di Propaganda Films, è morto domenica sera a Los Angeles dopo una lunga battaglia contro il cancro. Aveva 64 anni.

Uno dei produttori più rispettati di Hollywood, Golin ha lanciato compagnie indipendenti in grado di farsi strada in un panorama dominato dalle major, arrivando a realizzare film come Se mi Lasci ti Cancello, The Revenant e Il Caso Spotlight (quest'ultimo gli è valso un premio Oscar nel 2016), oltre alla serie tv della HBO True Detective. Negli anni ottanta e novanta, con Propaganda, ha scoperto registi di video poi diventati registi cinematografici quali Antoine Fuqua, Spike Jonze, Michael Bay, Gore Verbinski e David Fincher.

Tra i film più noti cui ha lavorato non si possono non menzionare Cuore Selvaggio di David Lynch, The Game - Nessuna Regola di David Fincher, Essere John Malkovich di Spike Jonze, Se mi Lasci ti Cancello di Michel Gondry, Babel di Alejandro González Iñárritu, True Detective di Nic Pizzolatto, Mr. Robot di Sam Esmail, Il Caso Spotlight di Tom McCarthy, The Alienist di Cary Joji Fukunaga, e i recenti Boy Erased di Joel Edgerton, Maniac, The OA, Catch-22 di George Cooney e Tredici.

Tre le nomination all'Oscar come miglior film ricevute da Golin: Babel, The Revenant e Spotlight (che poi lo ha vinto). Anonymous Content è anche un'agenzia di talent, e Golin personalmente rappresentava nomi come Alfonso Cuaron, Emma Stone, Samuel L. Jackson, Mahershala Ali, Winona Ryder, Meg Ryan, Edgar Wright, James Franco e John Ceese.

So sad to hear Steve Golin has passed away. A champion of diverting, cutting edge cinema. I fondly remember us doing a Q&A at the New Beverly for ‘Wild At Heart’ sitting with him at the back as it rocked the place. Then Laura Dern showed up bringing Lynch with her! A magic night.
