Ben Affleck e Matt Damon produrranno l'adattamento di Sleeper per la Warner Bros.

Variety annuncia che Ben Affleck e Matt Damon produrranno l'adattamento cinematografico di Sleeper, serie a fumetti di Ed Brubakeron che sarà adattata per il grande schermo da Shawn Ryan e David Wiener. Il progetto era stato già avviato nel 2008, con Sam Raimi e Josh Donen alla produzione e Tom Cruise nei panni del protagonista, ma è poi stato sospeso.

Tra i produttori, questa volta, figurerà anche Jennifer Todd, mentre è aperta la caccia a colui che siederà in cabina di regia.

Ambientata in un universo noir dove alcune persone a caso scoprono di aver dei superpoteri, la storia ruota attorno alla vicende di Holden Carver, un uomo che ha la capacità di assorbire il dolore e trasferirlo ad altri. L'uomo tenterà di infiltrarsi in un'organizzazione criminale per conto di un'agenza governativa.

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are on board to produce Sleeper for Warner Bros.  The adaptation of the Ed Brubaker comic book series will be penned by the writing team of Shawn Ryan and David Wiener.  Set in noir universe where certain characters develop superpowers at random, the story centers on Holden Carver, a man who has the ability to absorb pain and pass it on to others.  Sleeper follows Carver “as he infiltrates a criminal organization on behalf of a law enforcement agency. His allegiances come into question, especially when he falls for the alluring killer, Miss Misery.”  Hit the jump for more.

Variety reports that Affleck and Damon will produce Sleeper, along with Jennifer Todd.  No directors or actors are currently attached to the picture.  The writing team of Ryan and Wiener last worked together on Last Resort.  The comic book series began in 2003, with an adaptation in the works as recently as 2008, when Sam Raimi and Josh Donen were on board to produce with Tom Cruise reportedly attached to star.
