Harvey Weinstein, in occasione dell'Howard Stern Show, ha annunciato alcuni dettagli sul suo prossimo progetto che prenderà di mira la National Rifle Association, organizzazione statunitense a favore dei detentori di armi da fuoco degli Stati Uniti.
Il produttore ha spiegato che The Senator’s Wife - questo il titolo dell'opera - non sarà un documentario, ma un film drammatico nello stile di Mr. Smith va a Washington con Meryl Streep, da poco candidata all'Oscar per I Segreti di Osage County."Dopo che avrò finito con loro" ha dichiarato Weinstein a proposito dell'associazione, "desideranno non essere mai nati".
Parole forti per una causa in cui il produttore crede molto. "Non credo ci sia il bisogno di possedere armi da fuoco. Io non ne ho mai sentito il bisogno. La NRA è un disastro".Oltre a Meryl Streep, la pellicola punterà a un cast stellare. Per il momento nessuno sceneggiatore o regista è stato ancora coinvolto.
Producer Harvey Weinstein is not afraid to speak his mind. He did just that on a recent appearance on The Howard Stern Show, (via Washington Times), where he revealed that he and Meryl Streep are working on a project that will take on the National Rifle Association. After making some strong statements against the NRA, Weinstein said, “I’m going to make a movie with Meryl Streep, and we’re going to take [gun rights] head-on. And [the NRA is] going to wish they weren’t alive after I’m done with them.” Weinstein revealed that the project won’t be a documentary, but will instead be a big movie in the vein of Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.
