Si sono tenuti questa notte i Writers Guild Awards, i premi della categoria degli sceneggiatori che anticipano gli Oscar nella categoria "miglior sceneggiatura originale" e "miglior sceneggiatura adattata".
Nessuno stupore per il premio a The Millionaire, che ormai sembra avere parecchie statuette in tasca, mentre Milk prevale su altri titoli importanti (ma effettivamente già snobbati altrove, e con meno chances) come Burn after Reading. Ha ritirato il premio un Dustin Lance Black in lacrime: lo sceneggiatore 34enne ha ammesso di aver avuto come ispirazione proprio Harvey Milk quando, tredicenne gay e emarginato, si trasferì nella Bay Area da San Antonio, in Texas. "Ringrazio dio per aver avverato i miei sogni," ha continuato Black, cresciuto in una famiglia di Mormoni, "e per averci dato Harvey Milk". Vedremo se questo WGA si trasformerà in Oscar.
Interessante il premio per Valzer con Bashir, che in pratica viene nominato qua e là in categorie una diversa dall'altra (miglior film d'animazione, miglior documentario, miglior film straniero…).
