A quanto pare le associazioni dei critici americani stanno dando un giudizio pressoché unanime sul miglior film dell'anno: è The Social Network, che dopo essere stato inserito in cima alle liste delle associazioni di New York, Los Angeles e Boston, ha trionfato anche a San Francisco, Detroit, Toronto, Houston e ai premi della Southeastern Film Critics Association. I critici di San Diego, invece, si sono distinti per aver premiato Winter's Bone.
Anche David Fincher sembra ottenere un responso pressoché unanime come regista, così come lo sceneggiatore Aaron Sorkin. Sul fronte degli attori, Jesse Eisenberg vince a Toronto e Houston.
