A 24 ore dalla conferenza del Festival di Venezia, il Toronto International Film Festival ha annunciato ufficialmente la prima lista (vi saranno importanti aggiornamenti nelle prossime settimane) di film che verranno presentati durante l’attesa 40esima edizione, che si terrà dal 10 al 20 settembre.

Il film d’apertura sarà Demolition, diretto da Jean-Marc Vallée, con Jake Gyllenhaal e Naomi Watts. Numerose, come sempre, le premiére mondiali, alcune forse “soffiate” a Venezia (che quest’anno inizierà due giorni dopo rispetto a Toronto, entrambi i festival lanciano spesso grandi titoli che rivedremo poi nella stagione degli Oscar): da The Martian di Ridley Scott a Trumbo con Bryan Cranston, passando per Where Do We Invade Next, il nuovo documentario di Michael Moore, Stonewall di Roland Emmerich, il biopic su Lance Armstrong diretto da Stephen Frears (The Program), Freeheld di Peter Sollett (con Julianne Moore).

Da notare poi, tra le Special Presentations, i debutti nordamericani di Sicario di Denis Villeneuve, The Lobster di Yorgos Lanthimos, La Giovinezza di Paolo Sorrentino, The Danish Girl di Tom Hooper.
