Composta da dieci episodi, questa serie è ambientata decenni prima della serie originale, e segue Pike mentre guida la Enterprise nell’esplorazione di nuovi mondi entrando in contatto con nuove società e culture. Nel cast ritroviamo anche Rebecca Romijn ed Ethan Peck nei panni rispettivamente di Numero Uno e Spock, Celia Rose come il cadetto Uhura e Christina Chong come La’an Noonien-Singh (discendente di Khan).

Il debutto della serie (già rinnovata per una seconda stagione) è previsto per il 5 maggio in Nordamerica, Australia, America Latina e Nord Europa su Paramount+. La premiere è stata scritta e diretta da Akiva Goldsman e prodotta da lui assieme a Alex Kurtzman e Jenny Lumet. Goldsman e Henry Alonso Myers sono co-showrunner.
