Sono stati proclamati i vincitori degli ASC Awards 2024, i premi della American Society of Cinematographers, il sindacato dei direttori della forografia che spesso (ma non sempre) preludono al relativo Oscar alla migliore fotografia. 17 volte, negli ultimi 37 anni, il vincitore del premio dell’ASC ha ottenuto poi la statuetta. L’anno scorso l’ASC Award andò a Mandy Walker per Elvis, ma l’Oscar lo vinse James Friend per Niente di nuovo sul fronte occidentale.

Quest’anno i candidati al premio dell’ASC corrispondevano totalmente ai candidati all’Oscar come miglior film, incluso El Conde di Pablo Larrain. La fotografia in bianco e nero domina la cinquina: viene infatti utilizzata da quattro dei cinque film nominati. Ed è preponderante nel lavoro di Hoyte van Hoytema per Oppenheimer, vincitore dell’ASC e ora favorito all’Oscar.

Lo spotlight award è andato a Warwick Thornton per The New Boy, mentre sul fronte televisivo sono state premiate serie come La fantastica signora Maisel, Barry e Lo strangolatore di Boston.
